Surely the Lord is in this place


and we did not know it.

This is none other than the house of God,


and this is the gate of heaven.


Our God is sovereign in strength, yet judges with mildness;


with great forbearance our God governs us.


Teach us your way, O Lord, that we may walk in your truth;


give us an undivided heart to revere your name.


Come, let us worship the God who meets us where we are.

Prayer of Confession (unison)                                         

Patient God, we confess that we are quick to judge and slow to love. We look out over the field of the world and imagine ourselves the wheat and our neighbors the weeds. We reach for what belongs to you alone, tearing up in our impatience what you would tend with mercy. Our hearts are divided - drawn to your truth, yet tangled in fear, pride, and self-righteousness. Forgive us. Give us undivided hearts. Teach us to wait for your harvest and to trust your justice, that we might grow more fully into the people you have planted us to be. Amen.
